No, you're not cursed.

My first encounter with the metaphysical was a stranger sliding into my Instagram DMs asking if I wanted a reading. She claimed that she was told to message me directly, and her services were (of course) free of charge. I was none the wiser, and curiosity got the best of me, so reluctantly I said, "Sure."

She asked that I send her a picture of my palm, which I nervously agreed to. Anxiously, I awaited to hear about how many times I'd be married, how many children I'd have, and what obstacles might await me. Instead, she feverishly messaged back, "Darling, you have a curse put on you by a friend."

She quickly reassured me that she could remove it, and all she needed was for me to buy her a Steam gift card so she could purchase what she needed at the store. I had to Google "Steam," and was puzzled by what video games had to do with curses, yet I assumed it was just a method of reimbursement. I think I ended up going to bed shortly after because, even though I was unbelievably stressed by the interaction, it was well past my bedtime. I woke up to the stranger's account being deleted, and I assumed the curse was still in place.

I wish I could say that the whole interaction was something I laughed about and carried on with my day, but truthfully, it took me a while to let it go. I didn't understand much about the metaphysical, and what I had heard about was through my love of horror movies. In my mind, I thought it must be fate that a stranger was messaging me to warn me about a curse, and her account must have accidentally gotten deactivated. It was the only logical conclusion.

That's sarcasm, of course—though that insight only comes now from someone who has spent years studying the mystical.

Present-day Maria can retrospectively look back and see that it was a scammer trying to get money out of fear and the unknown. Don't ask me why she wanted a Steam gift card, because I still don't know. I post this now so if you are frantically Googling, "Am I cursed?", "How do I know if I'm cursed?", or "How to get rid of curses?", I can hopefully be the resource that I wish I'd had all those years ago.

So, am I cursed?

My main point? No, you are not cursed.

I think we have to take a step back and ask: what does it even mean to be cursed? Do you just have really bad luck? Maybe you popped a tire you had just bought a couple of months ago (yes, this recently happened to me). Maybe you accidentally locked your keys in the car when that was supposed to be impossible, so you had to pay someone $150 to break into your car to retrieve them (this also recently happened as well).

But does that mean you're cursed? It could just be bad luck, it could be Mercury in retrograde, or maybe someone is just really pissed off at you.

I don't really believe in curses; I think you have to be really powerful to "curse" another person. And normally, if you have that sort of power and you understand curses, you're not in the business of cursing just any random person. Someone told me about a witch doctor who cursed a soccer player during the World Cup, and he missed his last goal. To be honest, it made me laugh, but then I was like... you know, maybe I could believe that. But you have to think, you have all the energy of the opposing team also reinforcing this intention. Or, the player just got overwhelmed under all the pressure, anxiety got the best of him, and he overshot.

Negative Energy & "Pew Pews"

Back to pissing someone off. This is what I think is the most likely culprit. If someone is constantly, passionately thinking about you in anger, I can see that causing some issues. You have to think about that invisible connection we each make with every person we interact with. So, if they are really mad, I imagine a direct connection to you (intuitively, this is what I'm picturing): little pew pews against your force field all day whenever they are thinking of you angrily or negatively.

There are a few solutions for this, because if your force field falters, I could see some of these shots landing. In that case, you might experience a few bouts of bad luck or sporadic anxiety. It's nothing like cursing your whole bloodline, but maybe enough to cause you some hindrances in your day.

My Top Recommendations for Protection:

  • Grounding and Shielding Meditation: This basically just reinforces your protective bubble. Actually, this is definitely my number one recommendation. I'll post another blog about how to do this, though I'm sure if you Google it, you can find many methods that will suffice.

  • Cord-Cutting: This dampens that connection you have with the other person. You don't even have to sever the connection completely; it's all about how you set your intention. So if you say, "I am cutting the cord to them sending me negative energy," that should be good enough. I'll also write a blog post on how to do this, but like I mentioned previously, there are a plethora of resources out there on cord-cutting.

  • Obsidian Protection: If you want a little extra protection, you can also put obsidian in the four corners of your house to form a little force field around your home. I go to the lowest level of the house, and that's where I put them. It just depends on what you want to protect—maybe it's just a bedroom, in which case putting them in the four corners of that room works perfectly too.

Final Thoughts

All this to say, I don't think you're cursed. Sometimes shitty things happen to us, and that's just life. However, if you really think, truly, that you are cursed, you can book a reading with me and I can let you know intuitively if I think that is the case or not.

With love and light,

Maria
