Grounding and Shielding Meditation

I've mentioned a grounding and shielding meditation a few times in my other blog posts, so today I'm going to show you how to do it. It's pretty easy, but since I wanted it to be even easier to visualize, I used Procreate to edit some photos so you can easily see exactly what I'm talking about.

First, get into a comfortable position. It can be sitting on the couch, on the floor, or even lying in bed—whatever you are feeling called to do.

Close your eyes and take a deep breath, inhaling deep into your belly, and then exhaling. Do this for a few cycles until you start feeling your body relax. Allow your muscles to ease, and melt away any tension.

Now, imagine a bright light streaming down.

Let it expand.

Then contract.

Do this a few times. Observe any sensations. Maybe a tingly feeling, coolness, or warmth.

On your next exhale, let the light start to move down. Have it go behind your eyes, breathing here for a couple of cycles of inhales and exhales. Let it release any tension or stress.

Continue to let the light come down your throat.

Then your chest. Spend a few breaths behind your heart center.

Let the light drop all the way down to your tailbone.

Once it hits your tailbone, let it burst out around your body, creating a bubble.

You are safe. You are protected. Within this space, only things for your highest good can come through. You are in control of what comes in and what goes out.

You can go a little deeper through your breath:

  • Inhale to a count of 5, exhale to a count of 5.

  • Inhale to a count of 7, exhale to a count of 7.

  • Inhale to a count of 10, exhale to a count of 10.

I hope this meditation brings you peace and begins to ease any anxiety you have been holding in your body! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me!
